Insert long line of curses here.

I'm sick. Had this been 10 years ago or so, I would have been happy to stay home in bed. But not so much now, I love my school. It's going awesome. I don't want to miss a single day. I've only got one year there to study on.

But noo, I had to go and get my self sick. It started with a very slight cough. And now I can't say a single word. It is so frustrating. And ofc I've had to stay home from school for two days now. Good thing next week is a holiday.

But on the bright side. I found this in the kitchen today. Both the mother plant (picture on the right) and the baby I took from it (on the left) is growing. How awesome. I guess I don't need to worry about them now then.

I always worry a bit until i can see that my plants are rooted and growing. Also the mother plant is looking a bit old and weary. But this is good news. Yey !!!

Orchid, Dancing Lady.

My favorite Orchid of all. Even before I got hocked on the color yellow. It blooms regularly, a few times a year. And is as easy to care for as the commonly found PhalaenopsisMaybe even easier since the bulbs the leafs grow out of will tell you if it's getting enough water or not.

My only problem with keeping flowers, except for the lack of space. Has always been that I forget to water them. Even though the "statistics" say that the most common problem with household plants is that people tend to water them too much. From what I've seen, that statement doesn't seem to be very valid.

This plant has prospered very well here in Sugars apartment, growing quite steadily and blooming 2-4 times a year. ( If I recall correctly.) If all goes well, I intend to split her up into two plants eventually. Really looking forward to it.  She's a beauty.

Oh my.

Look at that.
It seems my tiny Orchid wants to bloom.
Silly me has forgotten the color of the flowers so this will be interesting.

Baby Orchid.

One of the Orchids that belong to my mother has decided that it wanted to be a parent. I've read about this, apparently it's something that mostly happens when the plant feels that it's in danger och dying and want's to make sure it will carry on anyway.

In which case I'm not surprised that it happens to the Orchids here. I'm pretty sure the environment here isn't ideal for them. With the dust from the birds and the sometimes very randomized water supply. Anyhow, will be interesting to see if it survives into a plant or not.

Plant care.

Yesterday I had some quality time with my plants. I'm so happy every time I check on them and see that they're still alive and doing ok. They're doing much better than last winter. I wonder if it is because I've put them all near the window and maybe the light from there together with the fixture is doing them good.

Last time many of them lost a lot of leafs. But probably much to do with me forgetting to water them properly. This winter is much better. I guess it's good to buy "special" plants that you care even more about. I have a few now who if they died, would make me so miserable. Only had one death so far.

That was a flower I had duplicates of so no worries there. I do hope the remaining one stays alive tho. But now, it's tea time. My room smells of Geraniums and dirt. Nice. And I have a big cup of tea and cupcakes that are waiting for me. It's a good day.

Poor baby.

I have a cute mini Orchid here that has been living with my mothers Orchids in the living room. I got it last Christmas (2011) from my granny. It's been doing quite well up until a little over a week ago.

I noticed that the leafs looked a bit funny and wrinkly. I picked her up and apparently she's lost almost all of her roots. There's just a 1 cm small fresh root still alive. Most likely she's had a bit too much water. That "pot" she's standing in is not very good in my opinion. Even though it has a hole in the bottom, water has a habit of not draining out of it properly. If I get her to survive, I'll find her a better one asap. Poor little one...

There's also a small update on the other tab up there. ( Points up on the page. ) "In My Window". ;)
